Beautiful Berets

17 Feb

I love this wonderfully beautiful Beret pattern that can be found in Bronwyn Lowenthal’s “Love to Knit”

I’ve tried this in many different weights and textures and it always comes out beautifully.  This particular one is for a good friend of mine who is teaching me to telemark not this weekend but next (that’s free heel skiing!)

This is a relatively simple pattern– the skills required are Knit(K), Purl(P), Make one (M1) and Knit two together (K2Tog)

My First Hat

17 Feb

I finished my first Crocheted hat ever!

Its not my best piece of work- obviously I’m still figuring some things out… The rows threw me a bit at the end so I had to embellish it a little bit to hide some minor errors.  But over all I think it turned out well!

Teaching Myself To Crochet

14 Feb

Being a creative soul, I want to learn how to make as many things as I can.  Adding a crocheted border to my Pinwheel blanket got me excited about crocheting other adorable things as well.

Being excited is all well and good, but now comes the task of actually learning.  The two are quite different- I mean aside from the one vs. two needles thing.  There is a whole new set of stitches to learn- and these have lots of different abbreviations to learn, and then there’s the whole learning how to read patterns all over again….

I’m a littler over whelmed, and it’s a little more than I could handle during my hour lunch break at work.

Perfect Pink Pinwheel

14 Feb

Just finished the Perfect Pink Pinwheel on Thursday! Unfortunately I haven’t been able to post pictures until now.  But here it is!

Knit Pinwheel Blanket

The Premiere

2 Feb

Or debut if you will.

This is exciting, my first post on my first blog!  I am very anxious to start sharing my love of knitting (and recently crocheting) with all of you.

For the past few months I have been furiously knitting lots of headbands, a few baby blankets, scarves, etc.  trying to build up some inventory to start selling my knitting online.  It has always been a dream of mine to own my own knitting/crafting store (or to start one with a partner.)  Selling online would be the first step towards that dream.  So you can imagine how excited I am.  Now all that’s left is to start taking pictures, and building the site right?  If only I could stop knitting long enough to do so!

For the past three days now I have been working on a beautiful (if I do say so myself) Pinwheel Baby Blanket.  I am know finished with the knitting part and adding a crocheted scalloped boarder.  Which I am very proud of myself for.  When I have finished (hopefully tomorrow night as I must coach field hockey tonight) I will post pictures of my latest and greatest!

Have a wonderfully inspiring day!
